New England - New Zealand Relations

NZThe relationship between New England and New Zealand has been one of close friendship since New England became independent in 2012. While appearing similar to outsiders, nationals of both countries are quick to point out real or perceived differences.

The New England-New Zealand relationship has been defined as less one of friendship than of brotherhood.

The old CER and other bilateral agreements have been allowed to lapse or have been abolished outright. Such a dramatic shift would have been unthinkable for economic reasons until the 2020's when New Zealand and Europe signed a number of trade and economic agreements. The official agreement between New Zealand and New England is the Treaty of Common Interests, which was signed on the 3 November 2017.
