The Australian Heritage Party is an anti-independence party that was founded by the small numbers of New Englander's who opposed independence after the Civil War. The party remains a small, yet outspoken force in New England politics and regularly attracts around 2% of the party vote. It has never had a candidate elected.
Despite it's radical and potentially dangerous agenda (especially during the Five Day War) the party has been allowed to continue, and is respected by the other parties as an essential element of New England's democratic process.
Policy
The party maintains that the process that led to New England's independence was immoral and wrong. It seeks to undo the process of the Treaty of Wellington and reintegrate New England into Australia. The party is also strongly pro-American and seeks to establish relations with the US with a view of moving New England back into the US sphere of influence.
The party is predominately a single-issue party and usually does not attempt to create policy outside the scope of the relationship with Australia. The party vigourisly opposes conflict, and has tried very hard to seek a peaceful means to the end of the stand off between New England and Australia. During the Five Day War, many AHP members made themselves available for community service and sought to assure the public that they would not attempt to undermine the New England war effort. This proved to be the case, and party has earned the trust of the establishment as being a peaceful and a party that has the best intentions of New England and it's people in mind.
