DCP

The Democratic Conservative Party or DCP is a minor far-right neoliberal party. It supports individual freedom, personal responsibility, low taxation, and smaller government. In public discourse, the party describes itself as a classical liberal party. Today, the party is mostly made up of the decendants of the right-wing factions that banded together with the left to form the United Militia of New England in 2006.

The party is a relatively small one, and has on one occasion aligned itself with the larger National Party to form coalition governments. The Democratic Conservatives form the second largest party in Fitzroyshire, which has always been a stronghold of the party.

Policy

The philosophy of the DCP is based on individual freedom and personal responsibility. Perhaps properly described as classical liberal, the parties philosophy has also been described as laissez faire, neoliberal, libertarian or conservative.

The party states its principles and policy objectives as being based around the rights of the individual. They see that individuals are the rightful owners of their own lives and therefore have inherent freedoms and responsibilities. In the opinion of the DCP, the proper purpose of government is to protect such freedoms and not to assume too many responsibilities. Economically, the party believes that a dynamic and open economy, in which individual choice is paramount, is an essential component to the health of the nation.

Social policy revolves around ideals that promotes and rewards hard work, enterprise, thrift, and personal responsibility. It also considered by many socially conservative groups to be the most pro-family of all of New England's major parties. As such, the party opposes many socially permissive policies.
