The Liberal Party was a small socially progressive party in New England from it's establishment in 2015 until it merged with the Country Democrats and Greens to form the New England Alliance in 2028. The membership of the Liberal Party was made of former members of the Australian Democrats and members of the United Party who decided to form a new centrist party with the aim of holding the balance of power in the House of Assembly.

Despite their lofty ambitions, the electoral system made it difficult for the Liberals to gain a foothold in the parliament, and the party failed to win a parliamentry seat over the course it's existance. However, the party was highly succesful in the counties, in particular Macquarie, where it formed an adminstration in 2020. The emergence of the "Unite the Centre" movement in the early 2020s led many in the party to advocate a merger, which was formally approved in 2027.

Policy

The party was always socially progressive, but became even more strongly so after the election of Kerrie Stuart as leader of the party in 2020.

Economically, the party favoured a high rate of tax for high income earners and was in favour of welfare based initiatives for low income earners.
