Former Political Parties

A number of political parties and movements have come and gone since independence. Indeed, the vast majority of political movements do not capture the attention of the electorate and therefore fail to garner enough votes to reach elected office.

The following is a list of poltical parties that have dissolved or merged with other politcal parties are no longer registered by Elections New England. Once a party is dissolved, it's name cannot be used by another party for ten years.

Parties Which Held Seats

Conservative Liberal Party - A deeply conservative party, the CLP was formed when four members broke away from the the National Party in 2018. The party held seats in the House of Assembly from late 2018 until the 2019 general election. The CLP had strong connexions and support from fundamentalist Christian churches, but failed to attract popular electoral appeal. The party was dissolved six weeks after the 2020 election.
