The Honourable Kristine Fahey Dawkins MNE EC (née Booth; born 6 December 2001) is the current leader of the National Party of New England, and is the Leader of Opposition in the House of Assembly. Dawkins was elected as leader on the 17 March 2052, following the defeat of the Gordon Government.

Early Life

Born Kristine Fahey Booth in Macksville on the 6 December 2001, she was the second daughter and youngest child of Rod and Annie Booth. Her father was a solicitor with a local legal firm, while her mother was a primary school teacher until she retired to raise the family. Kristine was one of three children, with a single brother and sister as siblings.

Dawkins was schooled at Macksville Primary (now Macksville State) School from 2007 until 2013. In 2014, she was enrolled at PLC in Armidale, where she went on to recieve her ACE in 2019. The following year, Dawkins was admitted to the New England National University and studied a Bachelor of Arts/Law. After completing her studies in 2025, Dawkins became a socilitor and began practicing in back in Macksville.

Marriage

In 2026 she met Robert Dawkins, a fellow solictitor on a conference in Armidale. Dawkins was politically active in the National Party but had no ambitions of his own. Instead, he awoke a passionate political instinct in his future wife, and she become active in local politics soon after the two met.

The couple married in October 2027 and moved to Port Macquarie to open a new practice in the booming city. The couple purchsed a home in Ellenborough and commuted into the city every day. They had three children:

Political Career

Dawkins enjoyed a rapid rise in the local branch of the National Party, where she became chairman in 2030. The following year, the incumbent member for Hastings Valley announced his retirement at the forthcoming election. After a preselection campaign, Dawkins was endorsed as the National Party candidate for the constitutency. She campaigned on a three issue policy of health, wealth and security. The seat had been safe National since it was created in 2018, and the oppostion parties did not field strong candidates for the seat, which Dawkins won by a large majority.
