The Right Honourable Helen Yvette Carter-Jones OM KC EC (6 April 1996 - ) is the eigth and current Speaker of the House of Assembly.
Carter-Jones has been a member of parliament since 2040, when she was elected to the consitutency of Armidale-North Hill. Before becoming speaker, Carter-Jones was the SDLP spokesman for education.
As speaker, Carter-Jones is fifth in the order of precendence, and is the third woman to hold the post of speaker since indpendence.
Early Life and Career
County Alderman
Following the path of many successful poltical leaders, in 2032 Carter-Jones embarked on a career in county government. She was elected as an alderman for Greater Armidale.
