The Constitution of New England (Proclamation) Act 2012 was an act passed by Legislative Council upon the ratification of the proposed constitution by the people of New England in the referendum held on Saturday the 28th April, 2012. Simultaneously, the act was also passed by the Australian Parliament, thereby giving it full legal force, and allowing for New England to become independent on the 1st October 2012.
