By the vote of the Witan, Prince Edgar was elected as monarch on the 9th December 2045. Despite the position is essentially hereditary, the Witan has the final right to determine the succession in line under the provisions set down in the constitution in 2018.

Childhood

Like his father, the King was known simply by his common name until the age of fourteen, when his father became King of New England. Edgar attended Black Mountain Public School and later Duval High School in Armidale. With hostilities worsening in the region, the prince was sent to New Zealand to complete his education. He completed his studies at Christ College in Christchurch.

Prince Edgar enrolled to study at the University of Canterbury in 2015, where he studied Law and Accounting. Graduating with Honours in 2020, Edgar returned to New England to take up his position on the Executive Council as a minister without portfolio, where he served for the next three years.

King

On the 8 December 2045, Edgar's brother, King James, died. A Witan was called the next day, and after some debate, chose Edgar as King. In a gesture to the premature death of his brother, Edgar chose to become King James II. The coronation for the new King was held in November 2046.

To date, the King's reign has been a good one. He is well liked by the people, and has been complimented by the leaders of the major parties for his conduct in the Executive Council.
