The Military Cross or MC is an award for personnel of the New England Defence Forces for conspicuous gallantry during active operations against the enemy on land, air and sea.
The award was created in 2016 by the King as a senior award for distinguished and meritorious service. To date, there have been 346 personnel awarded the Military Cross. 150 were granted as a result of the Civil War, and a further 166 were granted during and after the Five Day War. The remaining thirty have been granted by as a result of peacekeeping operations by Defence Force personnel since 2016. Like the other senior awards, the Military Cross can be given posthumously.
