The Ministry of Conservation or MoC is the cabinet portfolio responsible for the protection of New England's natural environment and cultural heritage. Established in October 2012, the ministry is one of the smaller portfolios in the government, and has about 2,500 staff based beside R.V. Cowan House on Armidale's South Hill.
Responsibilities
The Ministry of Conservation is responsible for the management all of New England's Nature Reserves, Marine Parks and Wilderness Areas. It also manages a number of Heritage Sites, including heritage listed homes, aboriginal sites and former battlegrounds. The third role of the ministry is to provide support for the protection and rehabilitation of land and water resources damaged through overuse and poor farming practices.

Environment Agency - A crown statutory agency with responsilbity for pollution management and maintaining sound air and water quality in New England.
