Assets
Electricity is generated by a number of means and all are consistent with New England's environmental protection laws. This is mostly because New England lacks a large source of fossil fuels, and could not rely on the importation of coal, oil, gas or uranium. As a result, of New England's power stations are hydro, geothermal, wind or solar powered and between them these stations are able to produce 85% of New England's energy needs. The remaining 15% is produced by consumers using solar and methane generators. Currently, ELCOM runs the following power stations:
- Barraba Geothermal Power System
- Ben Lomond Wind Farm
- Dorrigo Plateau Wind Farm
- Hillgrove Gorges Hydro-Electric System
- Koolkhan Hydro-Solar Power Station
- Lake Copeton Hydro-Electric Station
- Nymboida Hydro-Electric Station
- Styx River Hydro-Electric System
