Trunk Roads

Assurance Marker for the A7 Trunk roads are major roads in the New England National Roadways Plan (NRP), and are second only to motorways in their importance. As of 2052, there are nine trunk roads, which are numbering A1 to A9 in accordance with the NRP. The trunk road network is currently 1,386 kilometres in length.

Unlike main and secondary roads, trunk roads are fully funded and maintained by the Department of Main Roads.

Appearance & Standard

Trunk roads are defined by a strict standard that separates them from main roads, although in some ways, they are very similar. For appropriate classification, a trunk road must conform to the following:

Trunk roads are signed using green coloured direction signs. Route numbers are given in gold, with all other writing in white:
