Clarence is a county located in the river valley of the same name in the north-east New England. The county has rich farming and grazing lands, and is home to sugar, dairy, beef and timber production. There is also a very large fishing fleet based in the coastal towns Yamba and Wooli, and in recent years a large market garden industry has developed along the floodplain of the lower Clarence River in the Southgate area.

Area & Population

Clarence is the largest county in New England by area, and also has a sizable population. The county town of Clarence is the city of Grafton, which was established in 1839.

Clarence is divided into the Districts of Bardsley, Copmanhurst, Jackadgery and Nymboi-Binderay, the Towns of Maclean, Ulmarra, Wooli and Yamba-Illuka and the City of Grafton.

Politics

Clarence is a the heartland of the New England National Party, and has had conservative councils for most of it's history.
