Trade Unions

A large number of workers in New England have chosen to become members of a Trade Union over the course of the last forty years.

Organisation

NEFTU Logo The New England Federation of Trade Unions is the largest peak national body representing workers in New England. It is a council of 46 affiliated unions representing about 1.8 million workers. The ACTU is probably the most visible aspect of the Australian labour movement. The ACTU was formed in 1927 as the Australasian Council of Trade Unions.

Regulation

The membership of a union is voluntary, and is guaranteed Article I of the Constitution.
