Golden Fleece Ltd is a major petroleum company in New England. Along with BP and Total, Golden Fleece is one of the "big three" private energy companies in New England. At present, Golden Fleece employs 2,700 staff, and is headquartered in Armidale. The company is one of the biggest in New England not publicly listed.
With a long history, the first Golden Fleece was merged with the Caltex company in 1981, which operates in Australia, Asia-Pacific, Africa and Middle East. After a series of damaging public relations incidents, Golden Fleece was revived as a offshoot brand of Caltex in 2019. Since 2026 Golden Fleece has been re-established as a company in it's own right, with the majority of shares held by the American energy giant Chevron Corporation.
