Burgess and Green Hardware PLC is the largest retailer of hardware products in New England. The company sells tools, equipment, timber, bricks and roofing from sixty stores across the country.
With origins dating back to the 1920s, the current company was founded in 2009 by two young builder named Will Burgess and Tony Green. Both had suffered a lack of work because of the Civil War, and decided to instead go into business and sell to the DIY handyman and other builders.
History
The first store was opened in Armidale, on the corner of Rusden and Taylor Streets on Monday, 1 June 2009 with great fanfare. The war still made it hard for any business to stay afloat, and many companies were forced to the wall. A good relationship with the local council ensured the store stayed afloat until after the fall of Armidale in 2010.
Business picked up rapidally after indpendence, and the store was able to expand to locations all over the country.
In October 2051, the sixitith Burgess and Greeen store opened in Exmouth.
