Glory by Day are a successful pop-punk music group from Port Macquarie. The band was established in 2034 by the Nesbitt brothers and their friends while they were in their last years of school at Limeburner's Grammar School. Today, Glory by Day has released seven albums and enjoys a large fan base both in New England and overseas.

The band has been famous throughout it's existence for confrontational lyrics and in recent times, there has been criticism of the unashamed political undertones in the lyrics, especially on the album First Steps. But like all pop-punk groups, the main focus of the lyrics has been about life, love and the hostility of people towards others.

Background

Glory by Day was founded by Rod and Simon Nesbitt over the summer of 2033/34 as a hobby between school. In 2034, the band was joined by Johnny Thom, Lee Hunter and Jimmy Harris, all of whom were school friends of the Nesbitt brothers. The first public performance was in school, and the band proved to be popular with pupils and teachers alike.

In 2036, the band wrote, produced and released their first album Take Me Out, which was made by the band partly as school assignment, and partly as a small scale money making venture. It was sold directly off the band's website. The band was discovered by the New Digital label, who signed the band and marketed the album nationally. Within six weeks, the album was #1 in the charts, with two singles also making it to number one.

All members of the band left school in 2037 having all completed their ACE. After a year off for community service, they returned to studio to record Tanked in 2038. The second album proved to be not as popular, but it did well enough in the US and Europe to warrant the band's first overseas tour. A return to studio in 2039 saw the release of the politically charged Not My World, which lambasted the First Minister and the ruling National Party. The single Liars and Saints was used in the New England Alliance's campaign for the 2040 General Election.

In 2045, the band was surrounded by controversy when it released Jimmy's Requiem, a fast paced single honouring the life of the recently deceased King James. Critics attacked the single as being in poor taste, as it included lyrics that acknowledged the late King's addictions and bad habits. Lee Hunter later summed up the inspiration for the song as such:

"I think Jimmy led us like no other person ever has. We want people to celebrate the fact this guy cared more about making people happy rather than doing what the fucking government wanted him to do."

But depsite the uproar, the single won the support of the new Crown Prince, Alexander, who revealed in a special interview that he and his brother Richard were both fans of Glory by Day, and had convinced their father and other members of the royal family that the single was a fitting tribute to their uncle. In the event, Jimmy's Requiem has been Glory by Day's biggest hit at home, having sold 500,000 units.

In the last few years, the band has still been successful, with #1 singles in New England, Australia and Europe. A rock opera First Steps was released in 2049 and had two #1 hits. The most recent album Suck It Up, was released in March 2052.

A "best of" album, Glory: Reloaded was released in 2043.

Members

The band has carried the same members throughout it's existence, with a brief period in 2043 when Lee Hunter was hospitalised with appendicitis while the band was touring New Zealand. He was replaced for six weeks by Tim Jones from the band Hat Head. The members of Glory by Day are:
