Health Infrastructure Commission - The legal owner of all health assets in New England, the Health Infrastructure Commission or HIC is a crown statutory agency separate from Medibank. The HIC was established in 2014 in response to the findings of a Royal Commission into health services in New England . All hospital buildings and medical equipment belong to and are funded by the commission.

Regional Health Boards - The provision of all essential medical services is the responsibility of the Regional Health Boards, who work in tandem with the Specialist Health Trusts to provide treatment for the sick or injured. There are currently seven Regional Health Boards.

Specialist Health Trusts - Those services requiring specialised medical practice are managed by Specialist Health Trusts or SHTs.

Medibank then allows for the patient to claim back 75% of the fee that the doctor or dentist has charged. The use of an Ambulance or Rescue Helicopter is expensive, and is charged at the rate of C100 a minute, which can be claimed back if approved by the Chief Medical Officer of the A&E Ward.

The patient usually pays a Ward Accommodation Fee of C20 a night, which low income patients can claim back in full.
